Homemade Skin Care Recipes

With homemade skin care options, it is possible to maintain the clarity of your skin with natural products and ingredients that you may already have on hand. The following homemade skin care recipes will help you to keep acne away mainly by helping to keep your pores clear of blockages. Yogurt contains enzymes that, when applied to skin, gently exfoliate by breaking down loose, dead skin. You can use yogurt as a mask by itself or you can thicken it to make the application easier with the addition of corn flour. Aside from thickening the mask, the corn flour will also help because its mild graininess will help to exfoliate as it is being applied. To make this mask, combine 1 part of corn flour with 2 parts of yogurt and mix thoroughly. Apply the mixture then allow it to dry fully before rinsing off. The time it takes for drying allows time for the enzymes to work and help keep your pores clear. Another homemade skin care treatment you can mix up involves using the high antioxidant power of cinnamon as well as the antiseptic and antibiotic properties of honey to help fight acne. Mix 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder and 3 teaspoons of honey into a salve. You can apply the mixture to acne and leave overnight as a spot treatment, then rinse with warm water to help it dissolve. Fenugreek helps to reduce inflation. And one more homemade skin care trick is to crush fenugreek leaves and add water to create a paste. Apply the mask for a while (overnight if you are comfortable doing so) then rinse with warm water. This treatment will help to diminish pimples, soothe skin, and reduce redness. Tea tree oil is a basic ingredient that helps work wonders when used in a homemade skin care recipe. It has natural anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiseptic properties. Dilute tea tree oil with water and use a cotton ball to apply it to your face. Leave it on for 10 minutes and rinse. This simple mixture will behave as a natural astringent, clearing away excess sweat and oil from the top layer of your skin while fighting pore-clogging bacteria. It may be the case that previous breakouts have left behind scarring. Here is a homemade skin care tip that will help to reduce their appearance. Sandalwood and rose water combined to create a paste can be applied to scars to help fade them. Leave the paste on overnight and rinse with cold water in the morning. A very simple recipe requires aspirin. Aspirin is made from the bark of the willow tree and contains salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a common ingredient in over-the-counter acne treatments that helps to keep pores clear through exfoliation. You can use merely aspirin and water to make a mask or combine honey to 1) help the mixture stay on your face better and 2) simultaneously benefit from the antiseptic properties in honey. With so many simple, yet useful natural ingredients out there, surely there are a few recipes that you all are already using. Do share results of these as well as others you love using. Hi L,

Yep, these simple, gentle, natural acne skin care options are great. They are basics that can really help keep skin clear at home. This is particularly true for the aspirin mask (that's why the video is also posted) – trying that for two weeks can really help to improve the feel and clarity of skin. Enjoy! :)

I made a massage oil of tea tree, eucalyptus, and grapeseed oil for my boyfriend's scalp. He had very dry hair and a large amount of dandruff due to a dry scalp. I rubbed about a tablespoon of this combination through his hair once daily before I left on a business trip (two days). His hair is shiny and no longer frizzy, his scalp no longer itches or stings and his dandruff is noticeably reduced. He swears by the stuff now.

Wow Aldrea, that's a great tip! Thanks so much for detailing the mixture. It's really useful to have one more recipe as a tool to help with dry skin (even if it's scalp skin), and to hear that it really made a fast different for him helps too. Thanks a lot for sharing
