The Solution for Acne – Moisturizer for Acne Skin

Applying a moisturizer for acne skin is an important skin health step in your regimen. Moisturizer benefits skin in one simple way – it helps to maintain a moisture balance in your skin. This tidbit is useful to note even for people with oily skin. Actually, in general, skin benefits from having a good moisture balance. But in the case of acne prone skin though, it is actually a focal point because often acne medication tends to be drying. Also, many acne sufferers get into the habit of over-washing their skin or using harsh ingredients to try and fight or prevent outbreaks. The result is that often, acne prone skin is stripped of the natural oils it produces that help to keep it properly 1) moisturized and 2) protected. So with the natural oils being stripped, a good way replenish your skin is to decide on a moisturizer for acne skin that works well with your skin type (i.e. – oily, normal, dry, or sensitive skin) and incorporate that into your daily routine. Be careful to only moisturize skin when it has been freshly washed, as this will help to avoid applying product to sweaty skin and creating an opportunity for a breakout. Also, since some people feel uncomfortable about moisturizing their skin because they find the layer of product a bit heavy, applying moisturizer while your face is still a bit wet will help to lighten up the feel of the moisturizer. Do be careful though never to add water directly to your bottle of moisturizer, because doing this can create an environment where bacteria starts to grown in the bottle. Another solution to the feeling of heaviness is to apply the moisturizer in a different process. You can try putting a small amount (a pea-sized drop) onto your fingertips then dabbing the moisturizer onto your forehead, nose, cheeks, then chin and rubbing it into your skin in separate sections. This technique helps to assist absorption so that you end up using less. With proper skin balance being such an important consideration, moisturizer for acne skin is something worth putting into use daily if you are not already. Also, with so many options out there, you can let go of the fear that your moisturizer for acne skin will leave you feeling like you have applied a mask.     Image credit: dawvon
